Who is responsible

PLAY100 decides what this site collects and why. This policy covers snake100.net only; play100.io has its own privacy policy. For questions about this page, write to [email protected].

What you don't have to give us

You can play without signing up. We never ask for your name, email address, password or payment details. The only time we receive an email address is when you write to us yourself.

What the game saves on your device

The game keeps these values in your browser's storage. They stay on your device, and the game does not send them to a server. They are needed for the game to remember what you chose, so they are not used to track you.

NameWhereWhat it holds
s100.settingsLocal storageYour choices: mode, speed, board size, number of fruits, fruit, snake colour, theme, Speedrun goal, controls and sound
s100.best.<mode>.<speed>.<size>.<count>Local storageYour best score for one combination of settings (a Custom board adds its number of cells)
s100.pb.<mode>.<speed>.<size>.<board>.<count>.<goal>Local storageYour personal best time and split times for one Speedrun goal
s100.readySession storageA one-time flag so the next page you open starts with the snake ready to go. It is removed as soon as that page reads it

Local storage stays until you clear it. To remove it, clear this site's data in your browser settings (often called "cookies and site data"). This also resets your best scores to zero.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve the site. It sees which pages are opened, roughly where from, and which browser and device are used, and it uses cookies or similar identifiers to do so. The same Google Analytics property counts visits on every PLAY100 site. The embeddable game frame and the "page not found" page do not load it. Google may process this data in the United States and other countries.

Google has its own privacy policy for the data it handles.

Consent in Europe and the UK

We use Google Consent Mode v2. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage is switched off (denied) by default, so Google Analytics does not set its cookies for them. We have not added a cookie banner yet, so those visitors can't switch it on for now. When we add one, it will use a consent management platform certified by Google, and we will update this page. Visitors elsewhere are counted by default; you can stop this by blocking analytics in your browser.

Advertising

The site shows no ads today. We may add advertising later. If we do, we will update this page first and ask for consent where the law requires it.

Hosting and server logs

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which protects it and serves the pages. Our web server and Cloudflare keep standard request logs with your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser type. We use them only to keep the site secure and to fix errors, and we keep them only as long as we need them for that.

Why we may use your data

  • Game storage on your device: needed to give you the game you asked for.
  • Server logs: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working.
  • Google Analytics in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: only with your consent, which is off by default.
  • Google Analytics elsewhere: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages people use.
  • Emails you send us: to answer you. We keep them only as long as we need to deal with your message.

Your rights in the EU and UK

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, ask us to limit its use or give you a copy, object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Email us to use these rights.

Your rights in California

Under the CCPA and CPRA, California residents can ask what personal information we collect, ask us to delete it, and opt out of its "sale" or "sharing". We don't sell personal information. Email us to use these rights. We don't treat anyone differently for using them.

Links to other websites

Some pages link to other websites, such as PLAY100, the sources of our credits and the articles we cite. Their own privacy policies apply there.

Children

Snake100 is meant for people aged 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
